The A1 Meson Exchange and OBEPs
1992
The Al meson exchange is introduced into the Bonn OBEPs. This step improves consistency of calculations of the exchange currents effect.
Cross section and transverse single-spin asymmetry ofηmesons inp↑+pcollisions ats=200 GeVat forward rapidity
2014
We present a measurement of the cross section and transverse single-spin asymmetry (AN) for. mesons at large pseudorapidity from root s = 200 GeV p up arrow + p collisions. The measured cross section for 0.5 = 0.061 +/- 0.014. The results are consistent with prior transverse single-spin measurements of forward eta and pi(0) mesons at various energies in overlapping x(F) ranges. Comparison of different particle species can help to determine the origin of the large observed asymmetries in p up arrow + p collisions.
IS THE MESON SPECTRUM LIMITED?
2011
A precise description of the high excited meson spectra is obtained from the solution of the spinless Salpeter equation for a static radial potential. The coulombic asymptotic behavior of such potential suggests that the meson spectra are limited so that no single [Formula: see text] states may exist beyond a limiting mass.
Coherent photoproduction of η-mesons off 3He – search for η-mesic nuclei
2012
Coherent photoproduction of $\eta$-mesons off $^3$He, i.e. the reaction $\gamma ^3{He}\rightarrow \eta ^3{He}$, has been investigated in the near-threshold region. The experiment was performed at the Glasgow tagged photon facility of the Mainz MAMI accelerator with the combined Crystal Ball - TAPS detector. Angular distributions and the total cross section were measured using the $\eta\rightarrow \gamma\gamma$ and $\eta\rightarrow 3\pi^0\rightarrow 6\gamma$ decay channels. The observed extremely sharp rise of the cross section at threshold and the behavior of the angular distributions are evidence for a strong $\eta {^3{He}}$ final state interaction, pointing to the existence of a resonant …
The Neutral K Meson System
2003
After the observation of direct CP violation in the neutral kaon system in 1988, it became clear that the Kobayashi-Maskawa mechanism of weak quark mixing was the most likely and most natural candidate for explaining this phenomenon. It seemed natural, therefore, that the same mechanism would also produce observable CP-violating effects in other neutral meson systems. The B0 system is the evident candidate for observing CP violation in another physical system described in this chapter.
Production of π0 and η mesons up to high transverse momentum in pp collisions at 2.76 TeV
2017
The invariant differential cross sections for inclusive π0 and η mesons at midrapidity were measured in pp collisions at √s = 2.76 TeV for transverse momenta 0.4 < pT < 40 GeV/c and 0.6 < pT < 20 GeV/c, respectively, using the ALICE detector. This large range in pT was achieved by combining various analysis techniques and different triggers involving the electromagnetic calorimeter (EMCal). In particular, a new single-cluster, shower-shape based method was developed for the identification of highpT neutral pions, which exploits that the showers originating from their decay photons overlap in the EMCal. Above 4 GeV/c, the measured cross sections are found to exhibit a similar power-law behav…
Photo- and Electroproduction of Eta Mesons on Nucleons and Nuclei
1995
Eta photo- and electroproduction off the nucleon is investigated in an approach that contains Born terms, vector meson and nucleon resonance contributions. In a comparison with the new Mainz data we find a large sensitivity on the elementary ηN N coupling. Our analysis results in a pseudoscalar ηN N coupling with a coupling constant of g ηN N 2 /4π=0.4. Furthermore, we also study coincidence cross sections for eta electroproduction and present calculations for structure functions and kinematical conditions that are most sensitive to the S 11(1535) and the D 13(1520) resonances. Finally, we show results on the inclusive eta photoproduction off complex nuclei with a very good agreement with r…
Search for the rare charmless hadronic decayB+→a0+π0
2008
We present a search for B decays to a charged scalar meson a0+ and a pi0 where the a0+ decays to an eta meson and a pi+. The analysis was performed on a data sample consisting of 383x10-6 BBbar pairs collected with the Babar detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B Factory at SLAC. We find no significant signal and set an upper limit on the product branching fraction BF[(B+ -> a0+ pi0) x (a0+ -> eta pi+)] of 1.4x10-6 at the 90% confidence level.
Measurement of Branching Fractions and Charge Asymmetries inBDecays to anηMeson and aK*Meson
2006
We present measurements of branching fractions and charge asymmetries for the decays B-->etaK*, where K* indicates a spin 0, 1, or 2 Kpi system. The data sample corresponds to 344x10(6) BB pairs collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e+ e- collider at SLAC. We measure the branching fractions (in units of 10(-6): B(B0-->etaK*0(892))=16.5+/-1.1+/-0.8, B(B+-->etaK*+(892))=18.9+/-1.8+/-1.3, B(B0-->eta(Kpi)0*0)=11.0+/-1.6+/-1.5, B(B+-->eta(Kpi)0*+)=18.2+/-2.6+/-2.6, B(B0-->etaK2*0(1430))=9.6+/-1.8+/-1.1, and B(B+-->etaK2*+(1430))=9.1+/-2.7+/-1.4. We also determine the charge asymmetries for all decay modes.
Spin dependence of {\eta} meson production in proton-proton collisions close to threshold
2018
Taking advantage of the high acceptance and axial symmetry of the WASA-at-COSY detector, and the high degree of the polarized proton beam of COSY, the reaction pp{\to} pp{\eta} has been measured close to threshold to explore the analyzing power Ay. The angular distribution of Ay is determined with the precision improved by more than one order of magnitude with respect to previous results allowing a first accurate comparison with theoretical predictions. The determined analyzing power is consistent with zero for an excess energy of Q = 15 MeV signaling s wave production with no evidence for higher partial waves. At Q = 72 MeV the data reveals strong interference of P s and P p partial waves …
